Every year is a good year for diver’s watches, but 2022 seems to be particularly promising. Four months in, we have already seen a plethora of entirely new introductions and variations of existing models that raised the bar in terms of good looks and functionality. With two new sub-collections within its Promaster Dive Automatic Collection, the Super Titanium Dive Automatic and the Dive Automatic, Citizen adds some more intriguing options to the current offerings.

The Promaster Super Titanium Dive Automatic

Powered by the automatic Cal. 9051, the 46mm Promaster Super Titanium Dive Automatic is the brand’s first diver’s watch that features a magnetic resistance of up to 16,000 A/m — a powerful protection in today’s digitalized world. As the name suggests, the watch has its entrance in the brand’s genuine lightweight Super Titanium case that is available in two case finishes — plain Super Titanium with a matching bracelet and black dial or DLC-coated titanium with a black urethane strap, both equipped with extension systems.

Water-resistant to 200 meters, its signature elements are the pyramidal stubs on the bezel for easy grip, oversized, lume-filled hour markers, and a highly visible handset beneath an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The Promaster Super Titanium Dive Automatic will be available from June 22. Pricing starts at $1,095.

The 1989 NY004 diving watch provided the inspiration for the new Promaster Dive Automatic, which now boasts an upsized 44mm case. Among the new features are a sapphire crystal and an updated mechanism for the aluminium bezel with a 120-click system. Replacing the original 60-click version, it makes for increased security when timing decompression stops and dive periods.

The placement of the screw-in crown at 8 o’clock prevents it from digging into the user’s wrist. Inside the plain or blackened stainless-steel case with a water-resistance of 200 meters, the automatic calibre 8204 runs at 6 Hz and provides a day and date display.

Citizen offers the ISO 6425 standard approved debutante in a broad range of options that include different dial colors, a bracelet and straps, as well as a two-tone execution. The brand has also brought back the popular fully-lumed version, sporting a dial completely coated in luminescent material.

The Promaster Dive Automatic timepieces will be available starting in May 2022, with price tags ranging from $575 to $695.
