The latest issue of OL MAGThe Special Lenses Laboratory (SL Lab) has once again been asked to equip Mr. Miskovic, a Slovak wearer suffering from progressive severe myopia and keratoconus.After a first correction at -104 diopters, he made for her a pair of glasses reaching -108 d, cylinder 6.00 d, biconcave with asymmetrical convex double facet.The SL lab has chosen a high index mineral material (1.807) with optimal optical performance.The production of these lenses was made possible thanks to the use of the CVS calculator developed specifically to meet the design and manufacturing needs of special lenses.A cutting tool has also been specially developed for manually roughing, smoothing and polishing the optical zone.The inner face of the lens has been designed with a power of -77 d and an optical aperture with a diameter of 18 mm, in order to give the wearer a sufficiently comfortable field of vision.The convex facet with a curvature of +2.50 d has been frosted to absorb reflections inside the lens, for greater comfort especially in low light conditions with artificial lighting.The additional correction was made on the external face with a power of -31 d associated with a cylinder of 6.00 d, with an inverted axis torus to create a perfectly round optical aperture with a diameter of 24 mm.This provides a field of vision of approximately ± 30°.A convex facet with a curvature of +6.00 da was chosen to not only make the lens thinner but also to facilitate its assembly at an ideal lens/eye distance.Finally, a Superdiafal anti-reflective coating was applied to the outer face of the lens.The power of the lenses was checked with a radiusscope, an optical measuring device for the main rays of a toric or spherical optical face.Mr Miskovic says his quality of vision has improved, gaining sharpness with a wider field of vision.Its new acuity is evaluated today at 1/10 compared to its previous acuity.Below, the video testimony of the care of Mr. Miskovic by the optician:The professional magazine and news site for the Optics sector.>> boost your activity with the solar/sport segment
