The Disneyland App is getting updated with some new fun and useful features.

To enhance guests’ photo moments at the park, Disney PhotoPass Lenses are now available via the Disneyland app. The augmented reality experience initially launched at Disney World in partnership with Snap, and was made available to Disneyland guests on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Included with the purchase of the Disney Genie+ service, guests can create their own Disney stories throughout the parks. Guests can immerse themselves by taking selfies with Grogu. A series of lenses allow for guests to pretend to munch on a Mickey shaped pretzel on Main Street, hold a bunch of colorful Disneyland balloons, wear a virtual mask or headgear inspired by Star Wars, toss glitter in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, or take an underwater video with Dory. The new app addition will create a ton of digital content for the parks with guests sure to share their selfies and stories on Instagram and TikTok.

Launching later this month is the car locator feature. Anyone who has ever forgotten where they parked after a long day walking at Disneyland will appreciate this new feature. Guests parking at the Mickey & Friends or Pixar Pals parking structures, the Toy Story parking area and the Simba parking lot will soon be able to save the location of their parking spots via the app.

Other recent app additions include merchandise mobile checkout and cast member compliments. Parkgoers familiar with the mobile order dining feature, which enables guests to purchase menu items such as churros or corn dogs on their phones, will enjoy this new digital shopping option. At World of Disney in the Downtown Disney District and various shops inside Disney California Adventure and Disneyland park, guests bypass the check-out lines and pay for merchandise using the Disneyland app.

Another feature that launched in August lets visitors thank a cast member. For instance, say you had a spectacular experience and you wanted to rave about a particular cast member. Now, you have the option — via the app — to do so. Scroll down on the welcome screen and there is a “cast compliment” link where guests can “recognize how Disneyland Resort Cast Members made your visit even more memorable.” The cast member will receive recognition and a thank you note with the guest’s compliment.
