Oppo just announced its new assisted reality glasses project on Oppo Inno Day in 2021. The project will take over the baton of Google Glass and continue to innovate in the field of augmented reality and data projection.

Among the products exhibited this year, Air Glass stands out, which is an assisted reality monocle that can project data to the user's eyes without interfering with their perception of the environment.

The device gets rid of the full-frame concept of Google Glass and is regarded as an independent element, with a light and futuristic design, by projecting data and content to the front.

The device is inspired by nature's form and adopts an ultra-light design of only 30 grams, positioning itself as one of the lightest devices in this market segment.

The main body where all the electronic devices of the device are made of CNC, is in the shape of a pen, has a soft curve and a discreet appearance, which contains all the electronic devices of the device and a touchpad for user control.

However, this is not the only way to interact with Air Glass, because when paired with Oppo Watch 2 or a smartphone with ColorOS 11 or earlier, it can also recognize voice commands and hand and head movements.

Air Glass is controlled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor, and we have been able to test this processor in a smart watch with very satisfactory results.

The Air Glass lens is oval, inspired by the wings of a cicada, powered by data projected by the Spark micro projector developed by Oppo, using micro LED technology, five highly transparent glass lenses, and the most compact size in the industry, only 0.5cc.

With this technology, the projection data can have higher clarity in text and instructions and be presented in a more vivid way, thereby providing a good visual experience in all ambient light environments.

The projector allows to display information in two display modes: 16-level grayscale or 256-level grayscale, with medium brightness up to 1,400 nits.

The surface of the monocle is made of two layers of sapphire crystal, which guarantees higher transparency for perfect environmental vision, as well as additional resistance and protection.

Oppo designed this device so that it can be used by a wide range of users, including those who suffer from visual diseases such as myopia or hyperopia and need corrective glasses. To this end, it created two additional frames with silver and black finishes for easy installation of Air Glass.

Oppo has developed a number of practical applications and is actively cooperating with other companies to develop other applications. One of the most outstanding features is the teleprompter, which allows text to be displayed on the camera to help users participate in conferences and exhibitions.

They also emphasize the use in real-time translation, displaying text on the lens or navigation to show the speed, distance or direction information in front of the user.

Other uses can be found in the presentation of climate data, related to health or physical exercise while exercising or displaying calendar information.

Oppo Air Glass is an innovative project that has a long way to go, but it will still be available in the first quarter of 2022, although it will initially be limited to the Chinese market and will provide black and white finishes and two custom frame accessories.
