(Pocket-lint)-While other companies are developing augmented reality smart glasses and headsets, Oppo has been busy making "assisted reality" displays.

Oppo Air Glass is a lightweight monocle type display designed to be mounted on a custom spectacle frame, allowing users to easily view the useful information projected in front of their eyes. Delivered in a lightweight and simple design.

Oppo envisions that this smart display will display clear information when you need it most, making users' lives easier. Imagine that there is no need to look away from the road, your calendar is clear at a glance, or the cycling route is clearly visible.

Oppo Air Glass comes with an open SDK, so developers can create uses for it in the future, but may include some very convenient use cases. One of them is the translation function, in which two paired Oppo Air Glass displays can translate the native language and present the translation to the user for viewing. Imagine two people speaking different languages and seeing what the other person is saying without interrupting eye contact.

Another beautiful use we like about the appearance is the transcription function, which allows you to use Oppo Air Glass like a teleprompter. Ideal for presentations without taking the line of sight from the audience or the camera.

Oppo Air Glass uses a micro projector with a micro LED system that can project up to 3 million nits of brightness. It uses a five-piece lens design and two sapphire crystals to ensure that it is scratch-resistant and can withstand daily use.

Oppo Air Glass comes standard with various applications, including weather, calendar, translation and navigation, but there will be more applications in the future.

It is supported by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform, which can be controlled through gestures, voice control, or through apps on mobile phones or Oppo watches. Oppo said that Oppo Glass can recognize head movement-for example, nodding or shaking your head can be used to turn notifications on and off.

Unfortunately, the battery life of Air Glass is only three hours, but it will be equipped with a convenient charging stand.

Oppo Air Glass will be launched in China first, but the company said it may also enter other regions. It will provide two different types of frames-half frame and full frame to suit most users' black and silver models.
