But even dreams can sometimes cause the blues, when that happens a little alone time in her car is the easiest remedy.

After optometry school, Dr. Jen Wademan dreamed of owning her own private practice. She made that happen a few years later and she couldn’t be happier. “I absolutely love taking the ideas that seem to be constantly brimming in my head to create and build something from it,” she shares. “I also love the variety of roles that I have — you name it, I do it — patient care to business owner and everything that falls in between.” She also has a variety of roles at home: wife, mother, yogi, chauffeur! But some days when her “quota for decision making hits a limit and the burden of all the responsibility falling solely on [her] shoulders” becomes too much she enjoys a little downtime in her car. “I have about a 20-minute commute which allows me the space to be by myself with no one asking anything of me. Sometimes, I just drive in silence, processing the day in my head. Sometimes, I turn the music up really loud and dance and sing in the car, and others, I put on a podcast or audiobook and let my mind forget about the day.”
